Do You Write About Yourself? A Mini Writing Course by Mary Papas eBook Mary Papas
Let's admit it. We all have turned for inspiration to our own personalities. The problem is that we are never objective about it. We put in our heroes the traits we wish we had, not the ones we actually have and then we create a perfect, never losing and always winning persona who everyone wants to kill. Mary Papas helps us steer clear of that dangerous path with useful advices and tips, you cannot just find "on the internet". For the first time a writer actually gives us the tools to write a good story. What I like with Mary Papas mini courses. is that she doesn't instruct me to do anything. She gives me the tools and I use them the way I want. She makes me think about my story without dictating to me (or whoever reads her lessons) what to do or write. She just gives examples and lets you write by yourself. If she had a class I would definitely be on it!
About this specific lesson, I have to say that it made me think twice everytime I create characters for my stories. Which is good because I used to write the hero "too perfect" and the bad "way too bad" and that was a bad analogy for any story.

Do You Write About Yourself? A Mini Writing Course by Mary Papas eBook Mary Papas Reviews
Short informational read to help writers as they try and make their characters believable. I think writers do add themselves into their characters and the author offers good advice on why we do that and why it may or may not be a good idea. If you are a writing this quick book of information should be helpful and make you think about your characters just a little more.
Too often, when we take a step back from our stories and try to read our writing from an objective point of view, we find that we've really been writing ourselves into our characters. Mary gives us brief examples of what NOT to do in our writing; primarily, how to figure out when we've been writing about ourselves and how to fix it. It's a really great little course. While it might be hard for some writers to really objectively analyze their writing to see if they're falling into these common traps, it's worth it in the end. Mary makes her examples clear and easy to follow. Can't wait for her next course!
